Halifax Blue wins Division 1 title!

With Red and Gold having dominated the HCL in the last few years sharing all the trophies between them, the 2018 Division 1 Final between Blue and Green would ensure a new champion.
Blue entered day 2 of the Best-of-3 Finals Series with the 1-0 advantage. Green bounced back strong and won Game 2 by 10 runs in a game featuring some high quality fielding which kept both talented batting lineups in check.

So as has been the case with every season under the best-of-3 Finals system, a Game 3 was required. Once again Green batted first, and were restricted to 103 all out by some disciplined bowling and good fielding by Blue. Green then defended their small total with a lot of fight and energy, but ultimately Blue’s batting lineup scored the necessary runs for the loss of 4 wickets with 25 balls to spare

Congrats to Blue on a great season resulting in winning both Division 1 and Division 2, having finished the regular season in first place in both divisions and then getting the job done on the big day. Green should also be congratulated for another good season and their efforts in fighting hard until the last ball was bowled.

We must also acknowledge Kisshore Rajasankar, Naga Satya Prasad Donavalli and Amit Joshi for their umpiring in the series which allowed all 3 games to operate smoothly and in good spirit.
