Addendum to Operating Rules for COVID-19

Introduction:

To ensure the 2020 HCL season is played in adherence to public health protocols and NSCA Return to Play guidelines, amendments have been made to the Halifax Cricket League – Operating Rules and Playing Conditions for the 2020 season only. The changes below override the relevant sections of the full document.

Operating Rule 9 – Halifax Cricket League Competition Rules

Add (k): If the season is cancelled before the September 7th games are completed due to COVID-19 restrictions or any other unforeseen reason, there shall be no champion in either division.

Add (l): If the season is cancelled after the September 7th games are completed due to COVID-19 restrictions or any other unforeseen reason, and playoffs cannot be played, the team ranked 1st in each division shall be declared champions. Where teams are equal on points, NRR shall be used.

Operating Rule 11 – Uniforms

Change (c): Where COVID-19 has resulted in supply issues with uniforms, clubs will not be penalized for players being out of uniform. Best efforts shall be made to ensure any player not in the official uniform plays in clothing closely resembling their team uniform.

Change (e): Where COVID-19 has resulted in supply issues with equipment, clubs will not be penalized for players being wearing pads of different colors. Best efforts shall be made to ensure all players wear pads that are either black or their team colour(s). White pads remain strictly prohibited.

Playing Condition 1.2 – Nomination and Replacement of Players

Add: Players showing symptoms of COVID-19 or required to self-isolate under any public health protocol are not permitted to play.

Playing Condition 12.8 – Minimum Over Rates

Add: There shall be no allowance to permitted time for the sanitizing of hands and other measures to avoid COVID-19. It will be the responsibility of the fielding team to perform these requirements without delaying the game. It will be permissible for players to have personal sanitizer bottles on their person during the game.

General

Umpires will not be permitted to hold on to the belongings of either team. The bowler may place their cap directly behind the bowler’s end stumps. If the cap is hit, it will not be subject to the 5 run penalty. All other items shall be left of the ground while a player is bowling.
